    Cycling Bike

Thіѕ fall I wіƖƖ bе commuting frοm South Gate tο Pasadena during thе evenings (5-7pm) аnԁ I want tο know hοw reliable аrе thе bike racks οn L.A. buses (specifically thе 762)?

*Mοѕt importantly, ԁο people steal bikes frοm thе bus? I Ɩіkе tο sit οn thе back, bυt I’m afraid someone mіɡht steal іt ѕіnсе іt іѕ аbουt a 1.5 hour bus ride.

    • Locking your bike to the rack should solve that problem. A simple chain and lock should do.

    • you can not lock you bike to rack-its usually not allowed -like would happen if you lost the key?

usually nobody steals the bike because you got too many witnesses
plus metro advise you to find a seat up front-not in the back- to keep eye on your bike

    • it will be fine just be shure to sit some where u can see it but the secure the bike in good and just dont leave anny thing on the handel or baset if u have one and it will be fine also get off at the front door and be shure to tell the drive u need to get your bike

    • Rather than taking the 762 north, it would be MUCH faster to get over to the blue line metro rail. That way you don’t have to worry about your bike so much.

The driver will not let you lock your bike to the rack. It’s already a delay when you get your bike off, unlocking it when you exit would delay even further. I’ve never seen a bike stolen, but I have seen:
-A man put his bike on the rack, but was unable to get on the bus because too many people rushed it. The driver took off anyway.
-A guy get off the bus, and the driver took off without letting him remove his bike.

When you get on, you tell the driver where you will be getting off. Then remind him/her when you get to your stop.

But seriously, take the blue line.
